Seedance at a glance
The model for product video: packaging, logo and lettering stay the same across every shot.
Editorial verdict: For product video in many variants currently the first choice, at the lowest price per second. Regional blocks and the data protection of a Chinese group need settling first.
This assessment draws on the provider's public documentation, its price list and published user reports. The two-week hands-on test our methodology calls for is still pending; the score will be updated once it is done.
Seedance is the video model of the ByteDance group, the company behind TikTok and CapCut, and it is built for one use case where the competition regularly fails: a product should look in the tenth shot exactly as it did in the first. To that end the model takes up to twelve references at once, images, videos and audio tracks, and keeps packaging, logo, lettering and face stable across them. If you need variants for several markets, formats and campaigns, that saves the most tedious part of the job, namely weeding out the clips in which the product suddenly looks different.
The first point of access is Dreamina, the vendor's own platform, where the CapCut editor sits right behind generation: create the clip, add subtitles, lay music, publish, without leaving the interface. The price per second there is the lowest among the major models. The catch: in parts of Europe Seedance is not enabled on Dreamina, and availability can change without notice. The more reliable route is then an aggregator such as Higgsfield, which offers Seedance 2.0 and the newer 2.5 alongside Google Veo and Kling and bills by usage.
On data protection, what applies to the whole group applies here: processing outside the EU, a privacy policy that does not rule out using inputs to improve the models, and no contractual framework for small customers. For product clips without personal data that is bearable; for material with staff or customers it is not. For the reference images without which no stable result exists, Midjourney or, on cleaner legal ground, Adobe Firefly remain the right tools. Our portrait of Seedance describes the workflow in detail.
Strengths and weaknesses
What speaks for it
- Up to twelve reference images, videos and audio tracks at once, and the model keeps product and character stable across them
- Native soundtrack with speech and effects, without a second step
- Up to 15 seconds per clip and up to 4K, with a cheaper Mini tier for drafts
- On Dreamina the CapCut editor sits right behind it, from clip to finished post without exporting
- Lowest price per second among the major models if you stay with the vendor directly
What speaks against it
- In parts of Europe the model is not enabled on Dreamina, so the route goes through third-party platforms
- Costs depend on four dials (resolution, length, mode, references) and are hard to estimate in advance
- ByteDance group, data processing outside the EU, training on inputs not ruled out
- Brand colours are rarely exact, so a check against the brand manual remains manual work
