Ideogram review

The specialist when legible text has to appear in the image.

Ranked 3 of 4 in Images Overall rank 14 of 17 Ideogram AI Free tier
4.0 / 5

Editorial verdict: A niche champion for graphics with text, ideal as a second image tool alongside an all-rounder.

Text inside a generated image was for years the reliable giveaway of AI graphics: twisted letters, invented words. Ideogram made exactly that problem its focus and delivers the most dependable typography in our test, including German umlauts.

That makes it interesting for anything combining image and word: announcement graphics, event posters, packaging drafts, first logo ideas. The templates help you land a usable layout without prompt acrobatics.

For photorealistic scenes Ideogram remains second choice, and anyone needing recognisable characters across a whole series is better served by Midjourney. As an inexpensive addition to the toolbox it is still hard to replace.
